Can company take legal action If I left without serving a notice period?

I want to leave my current company, as I got selected in new company. I haven’t received any appointment letter at the time of my joining, Still HR has rule to serve the 30 days notice period. I dont have much time for my next joining. Can company take legal action if I leave the current employer without serving notice period?

    Yes, a company can take legal action if an employee leaves without serving a notice period in India. In such cases, the company may initiate legal proceedings against the employee to recover damages or losses caused by the abrupt departure. It is advisable to communicate with the employer and try to reach a mutually agreeable solution before leaving the job without serving the notice period.
